Contents Introduction Part 01 Part 02 Part 03 Part 04References Indigenous Mental Health - Module 03 - Virginia Part 02 Case study   Virginia reveals she is part of the Stolen Generations.  She was separated from her mother when aged 2 years old, and spent most of her early life and education in a Christian mission school.  She described the experience as very abusive and doesn’t want to talk about it.  She has been unable to fully trace her family of origin, but thinks they may have come from a remote location.  She also had children removed under welfare many years ago, but is currently looking after two grandchildren.  One of her sons had spent a lot of time in jail and had been aggressive on several occasions, resulting in the police being called to the home.  She was previously a heavy drinker as a young woman and was once labelled as having a Personality Disorder but has not been receiving any treatment for many years.  She used to work part-time as a nursing assistant but had to retire some years ago due to ill health.
